Audio Update
In this update, I added audio to most of the assets in the tutorial level, such as the swinging doors, the lava, and the keys. The audio for the door being locked, the door being unlocked, and the key being picked up was created by me using my roommate's keys and the bathroom door of my room, the rain and lava ambient sounds were downloaded from OpenGameArt.org, and the rest of the sound effects were created using Bfxr.
I chose the rain audio because I feel it's a nice default area sound and isn't too intense. With the lava, I chose that particular sound to convey the danger of the lava to the player, as well as the fact that it was lava. For the door sound effects, I made them sound that way because opening the doors is not a super urgent process, so a more relaxed or standard-sounding door locked and door open sound effect worked well. Same thing with the key sound effect, as I wanted it to simply be the sound of the player grabbing the key with their hand. The rest of the sound effects were made to have a retro or sci-fi feel to them, particularly the sound for the moving platform and the multiple sounds for the falling platform. Overall, I tried to achieve a fairly casual tone with the sound effects in the tutorial, and I believe I successfully achieved this.
More sound effects will be created both for the tutorial and for level 1. See you in the next log.
