Kylar's Postmortem

For this project I was tasked with character rigging, programming, level design, audio, and some texturing. When planning the game, the main task I planned on tackling was level design, addressing the monster of the game, and some audio. In the end, we all took on a lot more and it led to us not finishing anywhere close to where we wanted to be.
During the planning process we wanted to split up task and all do level design, as we considered that each of our strong suits. For me, I was creating/looking for a character model to fit what we had in mind. Over the past 4 weeks I spent around 29-31 hours on this project. Majority of it for me was finding, making, animating, and programming the 3D monster model AI. On the side I added audio, textures, and did a little bit more programming for the player to die/reset after being caught. If I had to break it down in weeks it would be:
Week 1: 2-3 hours (Planning game, looking for assets relating to ideas, assigning tasks, presentation)
Week 2: 4 hours (looking for character models, assets, audio)
Week 3: 8-9 hours (Spent deleting and polishing character model we chose, then rigging it. Had a lot of problems so it took way longer than expected)
Week 4: 14 hours (Had rigging problems with Mixamo because character model was to distorted. Had to find new model that was rigged. Finished with programming the AI to follow you and be able to kill you. Finished by adding rest of audio, textures, and any assets for level design.)
We didn't get to fully finish what we envisioned and I was disappointed in myself for not doing more. Yes our task kept changing throughout the project which held us back from finishing and polishing the level, but I'm satisfied that we managed to get a lot of things done that we thought wouldn't make it into the final cut.
